Don PattonA native Tennessean, Donald D. “Don” Patton hails from the rural area of Claiborne County. A graduate of Powell Valley High School, Don attended college on a baseball scholarship and earned his B. S. degree from Lincoln Memorial University. Upon graduation, Don embarked on a 39-year career in the oil and gas industry. It was during this time, Don also earned his M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.

When Don returned to Tennessee in 2015, a chance encounter led to a phone call, then a meeting with Joe Johnson, founder and President of Senior Solutions, LLC, and a marketing partner with Your Insurance Group. It was during this time, thru his own research, Don learned that it is believed 95% of all Tennesseans either had no form of life/final expense insurance or did not have enough. This brought flashbacks to Don’s childhood that when a neighbor, friend or relative passed, graves were hand-dug, bodies were brought to the home for others to pay their final respects, and baskets were placed by the caskets for contributions to help defray the costs of the funeral. “I hated those baskets then and still cringe when I see solicitations being made to assist the family with final expenses today.” It is thru the efforts of Don, and other fellow agents, there is no longer a reason that anyone should leave a financial burden to their loved ones.

Don welcomes the challenge of helping those who realize they need to address a future need. His pledge to his customers is to find the best coverage, at the lowest cost, to fit their need and their budget. His approach is “no pressure and no hassle”, making himself available to his customers 24/7/365. Don wants to earn their business every day and tells his customers he wants to be their agent “until one of us takes our last breath on this earth”. He enjoys meeting people and making new friends and feels his best advertisement is “word of mouth”. While whole life, final expense protection is his primary business, Don also offers to his customers, other financial products such as annuities, FIUL’s, mortgage protection and children’s whole life protection. Don works long hours each week to make sure the needs of Tennesseans are met. Not only is Don an agent, he is also a customer, owning policies for final expense and accidental death and also owns an annuity.

Today, Don serves his alma mater with distinction. He has served as a Director of the National Alumni Association, a guest lecturer, a member of the advisory board for the School of Business and since 2013 has served as a member of the LMU Board of Trustees. LMU recognized Don’s efforts by honoring him with its 2016 Alumnus of the Year.

Besides his work, Don, a devout Christian, is most proud of his family. He is blessed with a son, Noah and his wife Candice, daughter Allison and her husband Derek, and four grandchildren being Bailey, Ruby, Barrett and Nathaniel. A fifth grandchild, Darbi, is anticipated to make her appearance in October 2017.
